      Multiple publisher locations in a book made it really difficult for writers to determine which, or all, locations should be included in a book or book chapter reference. And don’t get me started on the problematic referencing of a book with more than one publisher in various locations. To cite print sources, such as compilation books, you must follow appropriate MLA guidelines. A bibliography, sometime incorrectly referred to as a Works Cited list, is a compilation of every source that was utilized (whether referenced in the paper or not) while researching material for a paper.

Typically, a bibliography will include: The complete name of the author. The full title. Anthologies, and especially collected or complete works, may seem tricky to cite when both the author(s) and the editor(s) are responsible for the entire book. Therefore some readers assume that both should appear in the citation.

However, this is not the case. The proper method of citation for anthologies is explored below. Whole Anthology Citation. Provide the author, year of publication, title, and publisher of the book.

Include any edition information in parentheses after the title, without italics. If the book includes a DOI, include the DOI in the reference after the publisher name.
